Festive of Light (Diwali)
Diwali, celebrated by many in India, is a vibrant festival symbolizing the victory of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. This special occasion usually falls in October or November and lasts for five joyful days. Preparations begin early, with homes being cleaned and adorned with flowers, decorative items, and rangoli designs. Families also purchase new clothes, jewelry, and items for the puja (prayer).
On the morning of Diwali, my mother and I created a beautiful rangoli at our house entrance, while the aroma of delicious sweets like kheer, gulab jamun, and halwa filled our home. In the evening, we wore our new clothes and performed a prayer to Lord Ganes and Goddess Lakshmi. Afterward, we lit lamps, candles, and lights, spreading warmth and joy. We also exchanged sweets and gifts with neighbors, enhancing the festive spirit.
The celebrations continued with setting of colourful firecrackers and spending time with friends. Diwali brings happiness to everyone and unites the country in its glow. It is a festival filled with love, light, and cherished moments that I look forward to every year.
