FIELD TRIP – TERM 1, 2023

The moment we arrived at the training camp, we were instructed to go to a meeting room, where the instructors introduced themselves and held an ice-breaking session. The first activity was kayaking, which was very exciting and fun. My coordination skills were needed to reach the end of the track and back by kayak.

After we had taken our delicious lunch, we were asked to elect room masters. I was quite surprised as I was elected as one of the room masters. I got to know my three roommates.

After unpacking and resting for a while, we were led to a forest for survival lessons, like how to start a campfire, how to treat wounds, and the most important part: how to tie knots. It was interesting to learn that we can use different types of knots to build anything in the forest.

The last activity of the day was ziplining across the course. It was the most exciting activity of the day. We were taught how to put on a harness and learned about safety. At the end of the day, I was exhausted, and we slept soundly.

On the second day, we started our morning with a simple exercise. Then, we were briefed about the schedule for the day. Today’s activity around the training camp would challenge both our mental and physical strength. The first part of the course was a mental test that involved separating four types of beans. The second course was rope walking over the lake and a parkour lesson. In the last lesson, we were taught to make a harness and zip line. Once we were done with the training, we went back to our room and then waited for the bus to go back to school.

Even though it was tiring for me to go through this training, I still enjoyed my time with my friends here in Port Dickson. This field trip gave me a new experience, and I was able to create sweet memories with my friends.
