Wembley Academy’s December Newsletter

Annual Concert & Awards 2022

Recently, Wembley Academy held their annual concert event on the 3rd of December after 2 years of delaying it due to MCO. This date is also unique and holds a special place in my memory as I took part in the drama, Alice in Wonderland as the Mad Hatter.

We kicked off with the concert preparation especially the drama months before the concert day. During the prepping time, students were divided into different groups such as Choral speaking, hand dance, props team, technical team and costume team.

Finally, D-day arrived. Students were instructed to arrive early on the day of the concert as they can go one last round of rehearsal before the concert starts. As much as I’m excited, I am also nervous as this is my first big performance and I don’t want to let anyone down.

Around 1230pm, parents started filling in the auditorium seats. I was at the backstage getting my makeup done as there were many actors and actresses for the drama waiting to get theirs done. Around 3pm our drama started. When it was my cue to go on the stage, I tried to ignore the audience’s gaze and stayed focused on my acting.

I felt relieved once the drama was over. The day ended with the teacher’s performance. I felt happy that I took part in this drama as it gave me a whole new experience and also boost my confidence. I am looking forward for the next concert and hopefully I can take part in it too!
