Studying for Assessment

Many students tend to struggle to study effectively without forgetting what they have learned. For me, I often study in a well air-conditioned and quiet place, most preferably in my room. To add a little motivation, I prepare myself a cup of tea and a pair of earphones to listen to some lo-fi songs. Studying in public places like the library can easily distract me whenever there’s people or noises.

I start by preparing my to-do lists and set goals, like listing down the exam dates and chapters that I am weak in. Most of the time, I would type my notes and print them out since it is easier to edit. I would find study-with-me videos online so that I know when to take breaks and when to continue.

Testing myself is very important. I would arrange self-mock test do past year papers and check the marking scheme over and over again until I get it right. A small mistake can trigger me so it takes a few tries until I’m satisfied.

Other ways that are just as effective are explaining the concepts you’re learning out loud as this method helps to make sense of the subject matter; studying with a group that are equally dedicated as doing well in the exams as you are; most importantly, paying attention in class and not getting distracted.

Of course, everyone has their own ways of studying but as long as there’s effort, your hard work will pay off.
