A Meaningful Visit to the Old People’s Home
Last Friday, my friends and I visited an old people’s home for a community service activity. We were very excited because it was our first time visiting an old people’s home. On the way there, we talked happily on the bus and wondered what the elderly residents would be like.
When we arrived, we greeted the elderly with warm smiles. At first, I felt a little shy, but then I could chit-chat with them because they were very kind and friendly, and soon I felt comfortable. We spent time chatting with them and listening to their stories. It was interesting to hear about their lives when they were younger.
Next, we sang songs, danced, and performed a magic show for them. They smiled, clapped, and laughed during the performances. Seeing them enjoy themselves made me feel happy. After that, we gave them cooking oil, bread, biscuits, and small gifts. They thanked us with big smiles, and some even shook our hands. Their happiness made me realise that even a simple visit could brighten someone’s day.
Before we left, we said goodbye and wished them good health. Although I felt a little sad to leave, I was glad that we had spent such a wonderful day with them. This visit taught me to respect and care for the elderly. It was a meaningful experience that I will always remember, and I hope to visit them again in the future.
