Science Fair 2022
When I heard about the science fair, I was really excited and nervous at the same time. In term 1 we were told to form a group and select the topic. My group consists of Elton, Tejashree, Jaden Shan and myself. The topic that we chose was, “Why do we experience day and night?”
Our annual Science Fair was held on the 5th of August 2022 and parents were invited to judge our experiments and also our demonstration. We had two session, morning and afternoon. Which means we had to prepare the experiment for at least 4 times.
After selecting the topic in Term 1, we started preparing for our experiment. Originally, we had to prepare a globe, a torchlight and a sticker to show the country we live in but our teacher, Ms Simran said that it would be too simple, so we had to make the globe from scratch.
We bought a Styrofoam ball and painted it in blue for water and green for land. Next, it was layered in clay and finally a skewer was speared through it to indicate the axis. After we were done with the globe, we had to prepare the board. We were given a reference on how our board should be.
When the day arrived, I was really nervous. So was my teammates. There were also other groups who were presented their experiments as well. I enjoyed watching how the others conducted their experiment. One of my favourites was the “Sugar Snake” experiment. When finally it was our turn to present, I demonstrated my experiment with full confidence. All my team members gave their best and I was very happy about it. I hope to take part in this event and try out new experiments.
